What does Diwali mean to you?
For the world, it is a celebration of the victory of dharma over adharma and light over darkness.
For me, it is a heartwarming reminder of the peaceful Diwali mornings when my mother, in her
loving voice, would spark moments of self-reflection with a simple yet powerful question- “What do
you think are your top five qualities?”
Over the years, the question had become a ritual.
Its profoundness persuaded me to focus on my strengths and recognize my own worth. Reflecting
on my positive qualities took me on a journey of self-discovery and helped me to find my inner light.
Slowly, I realized that the light that radiates in my life is merely a reflection of my inner light.
THE BIG IMPACT
The realization was magical. Here is what it did for me-

THIS DIWALI, SHINE YOUR INNER LIGHT
As we light up our homes and rejoice with our loved ones, let us not forget to self-reflect and ignite

Meditation
Spare a few minutes from your busy schedule to practice mindfulness meditation every day. Sit in a
silent space, focus on your breath and cultivate a sense of inner peace. A daily dose of this will help
you to explore the uncharted territories of your subconscious mind and dispel your darkest fears and
traumas, replacing them with love and calm.
Self-work
Extremely powerful, self-work has been my favourite tool for igniting my inner light and becoming
the best version of myself. It involves conscious efforts to improve yourself through practices like
self-awareness and acceptance, mindfulness, gratitude practice, enhancing emotional intelligence,

Connect with nature
Spending time outdoors, being near water, walking barefoot on mud or grass, activities like trekking
or gardening, or simply soaking in the splendid view of sunrise and sunset are therapeutic at all
levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Try doing this to reduce stress, feel calm, become
more focused and shine within.
Never stop learning
As humans, we always yearn to grow and expand. Continuous learning helps us to achieve this
purpose. Keep your mind active by enrolling for new courses, learning new skills and sharpening
existing ones, reading books or stimulating yourself by undertaking a challenging task.
